'Fool's Gold': my new short story out today
Today is the Ides of March, and what more fitting date to publish this new gathering of Roman stories?
I’ve had to bite my lip while Triumphs and Tragedies was being put together by my publisher Sharpe Books, but today I can share my brand-new short story, ‘Fool’s Gold’. It’s joined by exciting new stories and interviews with six other big names in the world of Roman fiction: Alistair Forrest, Fiona Forsyth, Derek Birks, Alistair Tosh, Richard Foreman, and Peter Tonkin. Between us we cover the Roman world from Egypt to Hadrian’s Wall and back again to Rome, with side trips covering the empire.
My own story, as you may have gathered from hints I let drop last year, is set in Spain, where Tiro takes his first solo trip to attend the nuptials of Roman friend and brother soldier Martinus. But his holiday soon turns out to be a murder mystery. Of course.
The book is out today, for £2.99 in ebook, and free on Kindle Unlimited. Paperbacks will follow shortly. (American and Canadian readers: the book is still swimming towards you, hopefully dragging itself out of the Atlantic very soon!)
Triumphs and Tragedies launches today, £2.99 on Amazon, free on Kindle Unlimited. Please leave a short review if you enjoy this anthology!
